Review: Erox Wetsuit from Gregory Farrell
I have recently had the pleasure of testing out the new Erox Cell Air wetsuit and immediately noticed several features which separate it from many other wetsuits currently on the market.
Before even getting into the water I was impressed with the strength of the suit. Many open water swimmers experience a fear of slicing their wetsuit with a fingernail when pulling it on, however the Cell Air feels different. The outer layer of the suit is strong enough to withstand all the pulling, yanking and adjusting of putting a wetsuit on without the need to be delicate and overly cautious.
After only a few strokes I immediately noticed how much higher I felt in the water. The buoyancy through the hips enormous. Unlike other wetsuits which at have attempted to achieve a higher swimming position, the Erox does not affect a swimmers natural kicking motion. Many swimmers find that additional buoyancy raises their feet too high and their kick loses power and its balancing effect, hence why you see so many wetsuits cut. The Cell Air certainly does not require the scissors to come out!
Despite the strong outer skin, I have found the Cell Air to be the most flexible wetsuit (especially through the shoulders) I have ever worn. This is mainly due to the ultra-flexible back and lat paneling which allows an unrestricted stroke to reach further.
A wetsuit is a big investment and making sure you get the right suit for you is vital to ensure efficient training and fast racing. So when considering which suit is the right one, don't buy anything until you've tested the Erox. Compare it to the others for yourself!
